Abergavenny Local History Society
The market town of Abergavenny, set against a magnificent mountain backdrop,
has an impressive historical legacy. The Romans called their fort here
Gobannium. Both Abergavenny Castle and St Mary's Priory Church were
founded in the 11th century. The Drawing,
above, copyright Michael Blackmore
The society organises
the scheme to floodlight Abergavenny Castle.
