Wartime Abergavenny 1939-1945 by Abergavenny Local History
Society and edited by the then chairman, Richard Davies. The booklet has
been drawn from the tapes of our oral history project conducted by a team
of volunteers. It was launched in November 2002 and was sold out within
a couple of months. Another edition was reprinted in June 2003 and the
booklet is again on sale from the society at £3.50 to society members
and £4 to non-members. It is on sale at £4 from the museum
shop, local bookshops, Abergavenny Tourist Information Centre, the Hill
Education and Conference Centre and some smaller post offices. Read about
the day-to-day lives of townsfolk - and also about
the famous Nazi Rudolf Hess who was for a time imprisoned at Maindiff
